Frequently Asked Questions about electric cars - Optimal Energy
How far can Joule go between recharges?
Joule can achieve a nominal range of 300km on single charge based on the UDDS cycle of urban and highway driving. Studies have shown that 99% of urban users do less than 150km per day. Using the NEDC cycle, the range is 230km.
How long does it take to charge Joule?
Overnight charging is required for a 300km range when using a normal 220–volt home outlet and the Joule’s onboard charger.
Will fast charging be possible, how long does it take?
Yes, it is possible to fast charge Joule from an external fast charger. A charge will take ½ hour, or less if a full charge is not required.
What kind of power support infrastructure does Optimal Energy foresee developing?
Many cities are now installing 230V/16 amp charging points in public and street parking, and we think this trend will continue and accelerate. Integrators like Betterplace are rolling out fast–charge and battery swop infrastructure.
